How to Substitute Crisco Shortening for Butter or Margarine in Your Favorite Recipes: 1 cup Crisco shortening + 2 tablespoons water = 1 cup butter or margarine. Use tray and lid in this package to store unused Crisco Baking Stick Shortening in your pantry. Also use for sauteing! 1. Add 1-2 tablespoons of shortening to your pan (For best results, wait for shortening to melt before adding veggies or meat). 2. Toss in veggies or meat. 3. Saute and enjoy!
