Directions
Microwave Directions: In 2-quart microwaveable bowl, combine rice, 2-1/2 cups water and 2 tablespoons of butter or margarine. Cover and microwave at high 18-21 minutes or until rice is tender and most of liquid is absorbed. Stir in 2/3 cup milk and special seasonings. Microwave at high 1-2 more minutes or until rice mixture returns to a boil. Let stand covered at least 3 minutes. Stir well before serving. Microwave Ovens Vary; Adjust times as needed. Less Fat Directions: Follow range top or microwave directions, except substitute butter with 1/2 tablespoon olive oil and use 1/4 cup skim milk. Fat reduced to 5g from 11g per serving. Saturated fat reduced to 1.5g from 3.5g per serving. Trans fat reduced to 0g from 1.5g per serving. See nutrition facts panel for sodium content. Preferred Method Rice Range Top Directions: What you need: 2 Tablespoons butter or margarine. 2 Cups water. 2/3 Cup milk. (1) In a medium saucepan, combine rice, water and butter or margarine. Bring to a boil. (2) Cover, reduce heat to low. Simmer 18 to 20 minutes or until rice is tender and most of the liquid is absorbed. 18 minutes. (3) Stir in 2/3 cup milk and Special Seasonings. Increase heat to high. Boil for 1 to 2 more minutes stirring constantly; sauce will be creamy. (4) Cover and remove from heat. Let stand 3 minutes. Stir well before serving. 3 cups prepared. Enjoy! Make it a Meal: Easy as 1-2-3: (1) Stir in chopped bell pepper during last 5 minutes of simmering. (2) Add cooked ground beef or turkey once rice is fully cooked. (3) Top with diced fresh tomatoes or salsa before serving (optional).
