The Mariner, Dry Creek Valley, Sonoma County
Meritage Blend: Cabernet Sauvignon 68%, Merlot 13%, Malbec 8%, Petit Verdot 8%, Cabernet Franc 3%. In spite of rock and tempest's roar, in spite of false light on the shore, sail on, nor fear to breast the sea. Est 1972 Family owned sustainably farmed. Meritage Blend: Cabernet Sauvignon (68%); Merlot (13%); Malbec (8%); Petit Verdot (8%); Cabernet France (3%). This Bordeaux-style blend represents our best effort to produce an exquisitely balanced and richly textured wine with the ability to age for a decade or more. By definition, Meritage is derived from the merit of the grape and heritage of the blending tradition and represents the winemaker's artful crafting of the best of the vintage. Dry Creek Vineyard has long advocated this form of blending and was the first winery to use the term Meritage with the 1985 vintage. This vintage spent 18 months aging in French and Hungarian oak, of which 44% was new. The blend is 68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Merlot, 8% Malbec, 8% Petit Verdot, and 3% Cabernet Franc.
