Makes 20 servings! Decide how much you want. Each serving equals about 2/3 cup. Number of Servings: 2; 2/3 water (cups); 1 butter (tbsp.) (or margarine or olive oil); 1/4 salt (tsp.) (optional); 1/3 milk (cups); 2/3 potato flakes (cups). 4; 1-1/4 water (cups); 2 butter (tbsp.) (or margarine or olive oil); 1/2 salt (tsp.) (optional); 2/3 milk (cups); 1-1/3 potato flakes (cups). 6; 1-3/4 water (cups); 3 butter (tbsp.) (or margarine or olive oil); 3/4 salt (tsp.) (optional); 1 milk (cups); 2 potato flakes (cups). 12; 3-1/2 water (cups); 6 butter (tbsp.) (or margarine or olive oil); 1-1/4 salt (tsp.) (optional); 2 milk (cups); 4 potato flakes (cups). Make it your Own!: Extra Creamy Potatoes: Stir in additional milk, one tablespoon at a time, until desired consistency. Extra Firm Potatoes: Stir in a few more potato flakes. Extra Rich Potatoes: Substitute evaporated milk for milk. Prepare as directed, adding additional evaporated milk, if necessary, to reach desired consistency. Extra Flavorful Potatoes: Substitute chicken broth for water and omit salt. Garlic Mashed Potatoes: Substitute garlic salt for salt. Or, add a spoonful of garlic from a jar of diced garlic. Or, add one clove diced fresh garlic. Reduced-Fat Directions: Use skim milk and reduce butter amounts by half. The potatoes made with the reduced-fat directions contain 50% less fat than the regular directions: Reduced-Fat Directions: 3.5 g fat per serving. Regular Directions: 7 g fat per serving.
