Speedy Gift Solutions from the Supermarket
Feeling stressed because you're crazy-busy and way behind on your holiday shopping? Send your worries packing by making the supermarket your one-stop solution for last-minute gifts and get your groceries, too! The gift ideas below are quick, nutritious and delicious. Tastefully arrange them in a festive holiday basket or gift bag and you're good to go!

Pick a gift card, any gift card. Our stores offer gift cards for an array of places and items such as popular coffee shops, cookware stores, movies, books, and, of course, groceries. You're sure to find the perfect gift for even the pickiest person on your list. Bonus: You might get extra rewards or incentives for purchasing gift cards: check the next time you shop.

Wake up to breakfast. Muesli, granola or steel cut oatmeal, whole-grain pancake mix, maple syrup, a bag of flavored coffee and a jumble of oranges, grapefruits and tangerines.

Super-charged PBJ. An unusual nut butter such as almond, cashew or soy, paired with blueberry fruit spread, raspberry jam, apple butter or orange marmalade, and a loaf of whole-wheat bread from the bakery.

Far East experience. Brown rice, dried shiitake mushrooms, dried red chili peppers, sesame oil, reduced-sodium soy sauce and a bag of fortune cookies. Optional: Pack ingredients in a wok and add some chopsticks.

Baker's bliss. Your favorite wholesome cookie or muffin recipe printed on a pretty card plus nonperishable ingredients (whole-wheat flour, nuts, dried fruit, oatmeal, canned pumpkin, etc.). Optional: Include a cookie sheet, muffin tin or oven timer.

Italian chow. Whole-wheat pasta, sun-dried tomatoes, olive oil, caponata (canned eggplant relish), dried basil and oregano, and biscotti or amaretti cookies. Optional: Pack in a colander and add a red-checked tablecloth or towel.

A souper surprise. A selection of soup fixings such as tiny whole-grain pastas, dried beans, peas and lentils, reduced-sodium broth or bouillon cubes along with whole-grain crackers and a wooden spoon. Optional: Stash in a stockpot with a book of soup recipes and a potholder.

Toss it together. Extra-virgin olive oil, balsamic vinegar, Dijon mustard, sliced almonds, dried cranberries and a package of whole-wheat croutons, along with your favorite vinaigrette recipe. Optional: Arrange in a salad bowl or salad spinner.

A bunch to munch. Packages of nuts, sunflower seeds, sweet potato chips, light popcorn, baked tortilla chips, salsa, and dried figs, cherries, cranberries, mangos and apricots.

The recharger. A selection of herbal teas, a jar of honey, a scented candle and a book or magazine on yoga.

No assembly required. A holiday plant, bouquet of fresh flowers, dried fruit tray or fresh fruit basket.
