B&M, INC. Conducts Voluntary Recall of O Organics Organic Celery Seed Sold at Safeway Nationwide Due to Possible Salmonella Contamination
B&M, Inc. of Mount Vernon, Missouri is voluntarily recalling O Organics Organic Celery Seed sold in Safeway stores due to potential Salmonella contamination. The product is sold at all Safeway-owned stores, including Safeway, Carrs, Dominick’s, Genuardi’s, Pak ‘N Save, Pavilions, Randalls, Tom Thumb and Vons.

Salmonella is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.

O Organics Organic Celery Seed is packaged in a glass bottle with a net weight of 1.8oz (51g) and marked with a UPC 0-7989341124-8. The product was sold at stores from May 25, 2011, through December 16, 2011. Bottles with the following lot codes and “Best By” dates are subject to the recall:

No other O Organics spices have been affected by this voluntary recall.

No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this voluntary recall.

B&M, Inc was notified by their supplier that a lot of Organic Celery Seed had potential Salmonella contamination. The recall is based on a positive result for salmonella that was found during routine testing.

Consumers in possession of this voluntarily recalled product may return it to the store at which it was purchased for a full refund. Safeway Recalls Four “Safeway Farms” Brand Bagged Salads as Part of READY PAC FOODS Recall
PLESANTON, Calif., — November 16, 2011 — In cooperation with the Ready Pac Foods recall of bagged salads containing romaine lettuce due to possible E.coli O157:H7 contamination, Safeway is recalling four Safeway Farms brand bagged salads in 14 states. The recalled salads were sold between November 7 and November 16 at Safeway, Carrs, Pavilions, Pak ‘N Save, Randalls, Tom Thumb and Vons stores in the following states:

Ready Pac’s voluntary recall was initiated based on a single positive random sample result for E.coli O157:H7 reported to Ready Pac by the FDA. While no illnesses have been reported to date, customers who purchased this product should discard it or return it for a full refund.

E. coli O157:H7 is a potentially deadly bacterium that can cause bloody diarrhea, dehydration, and in the most severe cases, kidney failure. The very young, seniors and persons with weak immune systems are the most susceptible to foodborne illness.

Safeway Recalls Signature Café Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad Due To Undeclared Egg Ingredient in Dressing Packet
PLEASANTON, Calif. — August 27, 2011 — In cooperation with the United States Department of Agriculture's recall of some salad products produced by Taylor Farms, So Ono Food Products and Triple B Corporation, Safeway is voluntarily recalling Signature Café Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad, which is supplied by the three companies, because the included packet of salad dressing contains an undeclared allergen — eggs. The product has the following UPC and "Use By" Dates in the indicated states:

The "Use By" date can be located on the top label of the package. The salad is packaged in a green plastic tray with a clear plastic lid. The dressing packet is inside the container. While the dressing packet contains eggs, the salad itself does not have eggs as an ingredient.

#The recalled Signature Café Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad was sold at all Safeway and Safeway-owned stores, including Carrs, Dominick's, Genuardi's, Pak 'N Save, Pavilions, Randalls, Tom Thumb and Vons.

People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to eggs run the risk of serious or life- threatening allergic reaction if they consume egg-containing products. The recall was initiated after it was discovered that the ingredient egg was not listed on the product label. At least one illness has been reported in connection with this recall.

Customers are asked to discard the product or return it to their local store for a full refund. Safeway Recalls Signature Cafe 6 Layer Dip Due to Possible Listeria Contamination of Avocados
PLEASANTON, Calif. — August 12, 2011 — Safeway Inc. has been notified by Fresh Food Concepts, Inc. of Buena Park, CA that it is voluntarily recalling various Layer Dip products containing guacamole, including Signature Cafe 6 Layer Dip, because the avocado has the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. As a precautionary measure, Safeway is issuing a voluntary follow-on recall of the following products with the specified "Use By" dates that were produced by Fresh Foods Concepts, Inc.:

Listeria monocytogenes is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.

6 Layer DipAlthough healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

Fresh Food Concepts, Inc. reported that its recall was the result of a routine sampling program by the FDA which revealed that the imported AVOCADO PULP used in these products contained the bacteria. Fresh Food Concepts, Inc. also reported it has ceased the use of avocado from the supplier.
