What is a cream top yogurt?
Our cream top yogurts are made with unhomogenized* whole milk, which allows a layer of rich and delicious cream to rise to the top. Unhomogenized milk is more natural and less processed because the fat molecules are not broken apart and forced to blend evenly in with the rest of the milk. You can enjoy the layer of cream on its own (just skim the top layer off) or blend it into the rest of the yogurt.

(*Note: Homogenization should not be confused with pasteurization, which is a process of heating milk to kill off harmful microorganisms. All of our yogurts are made with pasteurized milk to ensure the milk is safe to consume.)
How is your Greek yogurt made?
Our Greek yogurts are made the traditional way. We strain our yogurts to remove the whey, so that the remaining product is thick and protein-rich. Some brands of Greek yogurt use added thickeners to mimic the texture without going through the straining process, but our Greek yogurts don't take this shortcut. By straining, we create a more nutrient-dense yogurt that's higher in protein and lower in carbs and sodium. You can tell whether a Greek yogurt is truly made the traditional way by looking at the ingredients; ours only has milk, cream, and cultures. Nothing but natural ingredients.
What is rBST? Is the milk used in your yogurt from cows not treated with rBST?
rBST (also known as rBGH) is an artificial growth hormone used to increase milk production in cows. Our yogurts never use milk from cows treated with rBST.
How is your yogurt 100% natural?
There are no artificial ingredients or preservatives in any of our yogurts. Unlike many other yogurt brands, Open Nature yogurts will never contain high fructose corn syrup or artificial sweeteners (e.g., aspartame, sucralose).
Your cream top yogurt contains evaporated cane juice—what is that?
Evaporated cane juice is an unrefined sugar. This is more natural and less processed than refined sugar, and has the added benefit of a slightly sweeter natural flavor. We also use pure maple syrup and honey (for the fruit flavors) to sweeten our yogurts.
Is your yogurt Kosher?
Yes, our yogurts are certified by the Orthodox Union.
Is your yogurt gluten free?
Our Greek yogurt is gluten free, since it is made of milk, cream, and cultures. Our cream top yogurts are certified gluten free by the Gluten-Free Certification Organization. While all of our yogurts do not contain gluten, we are only making a gluten-free claim on our packaging if it comes from a facility that is "certified gluten free".
How should I store my cream top yogurt?
Try to keep it upright at all times (even in your shopping bag)! Our cream top yogurts have a delicate layer of cream at the top, and if it is stored askew, the cream layer may break apart and look lumpy. This is more of an aesthetic concern or a concern for those who enjoy eating the cream layer on its own, and has no impact on the taste or safety of the product. If the cream top does break apart, feel free to just blend it into the rest of the yogurt and enjoy!
How long can I store my yogurt?
Please enjoy your yogurt before the "best by" date that is printed on the cup.
Why can't I feed my infant yogurts containing honey?
Infants under 1 year of age should not be fed any products containing honey. Because infants do not have matured digestive systems, they are especially susceptible to botulism, a type of food poisoning. Honey tends to harbor more botulinum spores than other foods.
